Between Modernity and the Hills
STORIES TOLD FROM THE SAN DIEGO AND NATIONAL PARK NEIGHBORHOODS
Heritage is a fundamental element in the creation of collective identity and the appropriation of territory. The memories and experiences that accompanied the use and creation of the heritage elements of the extended San Diego neighborhood and the National Park are what give vitality to the different manifestations of heritage in this important area of the city.
Our goal is to strengthen the community-heritage relationship and support heritage-oriented urban planning with recommendations and suggestions from the community and experts for the preservation of this heritage. We appreciate the active participation of the community and leaders from the San Diego, Centro Internacional, Bosque Izquierdo, Perseverancia, Macarena, and Torres del Parque neighborhoods for sharing their memories and recommendations. These were gathered through social mapping workshops, field trips, and focus groups with stakeholders from the broader San Diego heritage and cultural system and the National Park.
We invite you to visit our exhibition and explore the experiences and memories of the inhabitants of this area to understand the importance of preserving the historical and community memory of this part of Bogotá. This exhibition is part of the winning project of the 2024 PEMP's "Stories Told in the Periphery" grant, awarded by the Bogotá Mayor's Office's Secretariat of Culture, Recreation, and Sports, and developed by the collectives Urban Mapping Agency and Hablemos de Ciudad, in collaboration with Universidad del Rosario.
